DIY- Wedding wands, custom teapots, and banner

Hello Everyone,

I have been busy working on a lot of DIY projects for the wedding and I am excited to share what I have done so far. For a wedding that is vintage/rustic inspired, I want the centerpiece to be flower teapot that sits on top of a book. Since my wedding colors are peach, gold, and cream, I want a teapot that is gold. I looked everywhere for gold teapots and I cannot find one that match what I have in mind. The next best thing is to make my own.

I was able to find a website that sells teapots for a decent price ($7.50). I used the color brilliant gold spray paint from Design Master. You can also buy this spray paint from Micheals craft store. Make sure to spray 3-4 coats because they do peel off easily.

These wedding wands were inspired by one of my friend who also made her own wedding wands. Wedding wands are used during the ceremony when the Bride and Groom walks down the aisle.

What you would need: little silver bells, small metal rings, screw eyes (can purchase this from Target in the picture frame section), wooden sticks, and of course, ribbons.

Use a small drill to make a hole at the top of the stick and use your fingers to screw the hook on top.

For the wedding gift box, we found an old suitcase and sprayed paint the inside gold. Now, we can decorate it with a banner for the guests to put their cards in.

What you will need: old suitcase, burlap banner, white paint, sponge, and letter stencils.

The next thing I am going to show is not a DIY from me, but just something you can order from Etsy to personalized your wedding.

I can't wait to hang my dresses on these adorable hangers.

DIY: Personalized Marquee Letters

Hello Everyone,

Here is another easy DIY! Marquee letters are always nice to have as a house/party decor. I want to create something that represents my fiancé and I. My fiancé loves anything from restoration hardware, whereas I love a mixed of modern and chic. With that in mind, I want the marquee letters to show both of our styles.

C= rustic, woodsy
D= Shabby Chic/Modern

Start off with plain cardboard letters. I got these from Michaels. They are currently 50% off.

Inside each box are lights, bulbs, and a cutout cardboard letter. Make sure to read the instructions on where to insert the lights because it is different for each letter.

With these white cardboard cutouts, it is endless on what you can do to decorate it. For mine, I bought some decorative papers and just gold stickers for the side. Anything gold is my friend. =)

To create the background, I used the thin cutout letter that was in the box. "C" is my fiance's intial and his style is more rustic so I picked this wooden background to represent him. All you need is a pair of scissors, glue, and a x-acto knife.

 

After cutting out the letter, let's put it together. Do the same with the other letters.

Ideas for a vintage/rustic/shabby chic style wedding?

I am excited to start my new blog. This blog will mostly be DIYs and cool ideas for weddings, baby showers, or even for simple house decors.

Since I am planning for my wedding, I thought it would be nice to share some of the items that I have made and also that one of my bridesmaid had made for me.
My wedding is a mixture of vintage and rustic along with a touch of modern romance.

For a rustic wedding, I thought these simple letters are great to have for any table top decors. Any wooden cutouts of letters or marquee lights will go along great with this theme.

I have been collecting a lot of items for the wedding and sometimes I am not sure how they will all blend together. Another tip is to setup a sample table. It doesn't have to be exactly how you want it to be setup at the wedding because there is always going to be last minute changes. This is a table that I put together, but some of the items here will not be displayed together at the wedding, especially the table numbers. 

The lantern on the left side is made by one of my bridesmaids and she did a fabulous job. She made all the butterflies look so pretty and if you take a closer look, it has a lot of details. This is one of those DIYs that takes a lot of patience and time.

For the frames, you can buy any frame and make them look distressed by using paint chalk and apply black wax over it with a cloth. I also added laced flowers on the top right corner to make more chic. These frames will be used for my engagement photos. 

When I got these crates, they were very plain. For one of them, I spray painted it gold and the other one I used chalk paint because I like the dull effect. Initially I painted it coral, but my fiance didn't like it so I painted light gray. He was right... it was too bright. 

The two bouquet I bought from Michael's to add to the display and also will be used for the flower girls to hold.

For the table numbers, I know I want it to be chalkboard material, but the ones at Michael's didn't look  unique at all. I had to add a gold vintage frame and burlap with lace to spice it up.

All in all, I am in love with every piece. Hopefully you feel inspired to go out and create something you can call your own.
